SERVICES
Every Sunday morning at 10.30am
Watch online throughout the week
Our main weekly celebration is held at 10.30 on Sunday morning.
Our services are informal and contemporary, and are intended for families and individuals across the whole age range. There are special activities for children and young people during most services. Children of visitors are welcome to join in.
All the words of songs and liturgy are projected on to screens, so there’s no fear of losing your place in a hymn or service book. There’s no need to wear anything special.
We celebrate Holy Communion at least once a month. Anyone who receives Holy Communion in their own church is welcome to join us. We offer gluten-free bread and non-alcoholic wine to anyone who requests it.
There’s free tea and coffee available after all Sunday services, so please stay for a chat.
The teaching in our sermons is based on the Bible: not treating it like a textbook, nor looking for easy answers, but trying to understand its message and apply it to our daily lives.
Video recordings of Sunday morning sermons, and sometimes other extracts from services, are available to view on our Youtube channel. Audio recordings are published to our podcast (search for Christ Church Selly Park in iTunes or Spotify).
EXPLORE SERVICE
We began this new-style intergenerational service in autumn 2022. It’s planned to be particularly accessible to people of all ages, and usually happens on the second Sunday of each month.
Each service focuses on a different topical issue, currently following the series Is there hope? In addition to sung worship and a talk, Explore services are interactive, and may include creative activities, discussion and other ways to help us respond to the theme.

Praying for the needs of our community, our church and the world
Prayer
Prayer is an essential element of all our home groups, which meet either in person or via Zoom.
Regular prayer events include:
Every Monday evening, 6.00-6.30 pm: Prayer for our Country
Last Saturday of every month, 7.30-8.15 am: Pray for the life and work of Christ Church
Several times a year (see Calendar): Mission Prayer Meeting
Neville Williams House
Like all residential care homes, Neville Williams House was closed to visitors during lockdown. This brought a temporary halt to our short monthly services for residents and staff. After a much longer gap than we had expected, services are resuming in February 2023.
The services include traditional hymns, readings and a short talk, plus elements designed to trigger memories, especially in those residents who have dementia. In the past we have included activities such as making pancakes (we couldn’t actually cook them, unfortunately), schooldays and even making snowmen!
RESOURCES
During the pandemic many of our activities, including services, moved online and these often required downloadable resources. Links to the relevant web pages are provided below. You are welcome to participate in any of these activities, regardless of season.
