I lift my eyes to the hills –
Psalm 121.1-2
from where will my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
Shortly before he instituted me as vicar this evening, Bishop David read out these words from Her Majesty?s Christmas broadcast in 2016:
Jesus Christ lived obscurely for most of his life, and never travelled far. He was maligned and rejected by many, though he had done no wrong. And yet, billions of people now follow his teaching and find in him the guiding light for their lives. I am one of them because Christ?s example helps me see the value of doing small things with great love.
Queen Elizabeth the Second was herself a shining example of faith and faithfulness – because she knew another, whose reign will never end. As we give thanks for her life and pray for those who mourn, let us lift up our eyes to the Lord, and follow Her Majesty?s example of bringing Jesus? light and love into this present darkness.
Church building open for prayer
Our church building will be open tomorrow for personal prayer from 10am to 5pm, and then again on Saturday from 10am to 12noon. I and others will be around to talk and pray with people as needed.
This means the MacMillan Coffee Morning is postponed – we will announce a new date via the normal channels.
There will likely be other changes to our plans over the next few days. Please bear with us, and keep the Royal Family and nation in your prayers.
