About Christ Church

Our Story
The Christ Church congregation was founded in the 1980s, meeting in a church hall which had been used for many years for children’s and youth events. The new Sunday services aimed to meet the needs of whole families, including adults.
Originally called the Church Centre, the congregation grew in numbers and became increasingly independent of the parent St Stephen’s Church.
In 2004 Christ Church became a separate parish within the Church of England, and the former hall – by then in a very poor state – was replaced by our current building which opened in 2008.
