Is God for me or against me?
In that deepest, darkest of nights Job saw clearly that however much he felt God was against him, ultimately God was for him.
Ben has been vicar (lead pastor) of Christ Church since August 2021.

In that deepest, darkest of nights Job saw clearly that however much he felt God was against him, ultimately God was for him.

Job finally expresses his bitter soul and the pain he feels inside – but are there any seeds of hope in his deep darkness?

God is sovereign – and gives terrible permissions to Satan. Though he doesn’t understand, Job still finds a way to worship God.

We cannot be God’s people without the Spirit, we need him within us to enable us to walk and live as children of God – in step with the Spirit.

No one has started higher or gone further to give a greater gift – than Jesus.

Our lives were profoundly changed by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this service we reflect on what happened, and look at what the Bible says more generally about suffering.

This is the kingdom search and rescue operation: searching out those in whom God is working, and rescuing them by pointing them to Jesus.

We need Jesus – we need that daily rhythm of coming to him and going with him. It’s like breathing.

No matter who or what we might face, in Jesus we can overcome because he has already won the victory.

Persecutions and trials are the soil God uses to grow his people in perseverance and faith.

The mess of this world, the mess in our lives – it is not the end. There is hope, there is hope in Jesus who brings peace, who brings wholeness and completeness even to the messiest mess.

While we wait for that day when God’s kingdom comes in full, let us be ready, and live as who we are: children of the light and children of the day.
