What is Alongsiding?
Alongsiding is one of our discipling ministries, with a specific purpose to help an individual or group to grow in their discipleship. We use the word ‘Alongsiding’ to remind us that:
- God is the one who first comes alongside us to transform and teach us by the Holy Spirit (or ‘Paraclete’, which means ‘called alongside’);
- We are in this together – an Alongsider might be a more mature Christian, or part of a peer discipleship group.
(We use ‘Mentoring’ language when working with under-18s, to help us remember the difference in position / power in those relationships.)

Resources
We have a variety of resources for Alongsiders and Alongsidees which are kept at church – speak to the Alongsiding Co-ordinator for more information. Even more can be found on the Come and Go website.
The Alongsiding Framework contains more information about what we mean and understand by ‘Discipleship’ as well as information about what Under 18 Discipleship Mentoring looks like.
